The 10th Edition of Warhammer 40,000 is shaking the very foundation of its universe day by day with new content releases, rules, and impactful changes to gameplay. And in celebration of the new Edition and its rules, Games Workshop have revealed a massive 280-page long Core Book, focusing on the more recent changes of Warhammer 40,000, detailed faction focus sections, tons of lore, and amazing artworks to accompany them. Players will even get a dedicated Combat Patrol section, with all the necessary rules and six missions to help you jump into the new game mode.

We are well aware that there are those of you who would rather go fully digital, but it’s always nice to have a physical reference when needed. And for all the collectors out there – the Core Book has an amazing Limited Edition, which is bound to wow hardcore fans with its presentation box, which features the Emperor himself, sitting on The Golden Throne. Inside, the hardcover book features art by John Blanche himself. But that’s not all – buyers will also receive a limited edition book containing just the core rules, six metal objective markers, two double-sided rules reference sheets, and five double-sided art prints in a special envelope.

And if you’re still not sold on the physical copies, the digital version of the Core Rules, the Munitorum Field Manual, the Quick Start Guide, and the Rules Commentary can be found here.

Crusade Game Mode Revamp, Missions Deck, and Index Card Pre-Orders

The release of the massive Leviathan Box also brought massive changes, like the revamp of the Crusade game mode. The changes are reflected in the 184-page Crusade: Tyrannic War book, which will reflect the Core Book in terms of content – all necessary rules will be included, in addition to 15 Tyrannic War Crusade Missions, and a hefty lore section on the Fourth Tyrannic War as well. Note that Games Workshop has revealed that free Crusade rules will be released next week to update players on the new edition.

We would like to remind our readers that the above-mentioned rules and lore are included in the Leviathan Box in the Crusade section. If you already own the Leviathan box, the Crusade: Tyrannic War book will not offer anything new to you. However, the collectors may still find value in its Collectors Edition, which will feature alternative cover art, a soft-touch cover with gold foil blocking, and a black ribbon page marker.

Furthermore, players can not purchase the Leviathan missions deck, which will contain all the 66 cards and rules necessary to use and play the Chapter Approved mission system. The deck will also include 5 deployment cards, 6 cardboard objective tokens, 9 Primary Mission cards, and 12 Mission Rules. And to spice things up even further, there are a total of 32 Attacker and Defender Secondary Missions (16 of each type), and 8 total Attacker and Defender Gambit Cards (four of each type). These additions ultimately lead to a ton of content – over 400 different missions – good luck getting bored anytime soon.

It was further revealed that next week Games Workshop will release pre-orders for physical Index Cards for every single Warhammer 40,000 faction – they will include all their necessary army rulings, summarized on a single card or datasheet (when available). A themed Detachment will also be included. We have previously covered these handy Index Cards, which offer a terrific rule reference at hands reach. For all PDF lovers out there – they are readily available for download as a “regularly updated” PDF file.

Next week you’ll also be able to pre-order a set of physical Index cards for every faction in Warhammer 40,000. These provide all the datasheets for that faction, plus their army rules and a themed Detachment. These are already available for free online in a regularly updated PDF format, but these physical cards give you a handy resource to use at the table and save time swiping through your phone or tablet. If you are keen to get started, you can skip ahead and purcahse your Combat Patrol box right now.
