The Walking Dead: All Out War will be back in 2024 after the creators left many fans of the franchise and the tabletop experience without much confidence about the future of the project. Originally designed in 2016 by Mark Latham, the game saw significant interest in its gameplay, and although it wasn’t an immediate success in places such as BoardGameGeek, the title did build a solid following.

Rival Warring Factions Come Back to the World of The Walking Dead

So, if you enjoy the franchise, whether you have been inspired by the comic book series, the TV show, or forgive us for even suggesting this, Zombicide, we are very happy to confirm that the skirmish wargame will be back. Players will take the roles of armies of survivors and zombies who are keen to snack on anything meaty, fleshy, and evidently sane.

Latham’s early-day success was not necessarily accepted by the most hardcore of wargame fans. After all, once you have jumped through the hoops of learning systems such as Warhammer, you are a little reluctant to give Star Wars Legion a chance, and the same seems to apply to The Walking Dead.

Never mind the fussy wargamers, though, the original system shines with a straightforward quality that makes the game a beloved horror-survival wargaming bit of fun that we want to bring out on the table quite often. But what of the actual new release? Well, Mantic Games, is bringing the title.

Mantic Games Confirms Pre-orders for New Releases, Mum on Reprints

The new release will come with updated rules and models to ensure they have a good chance to appeal to players. There will be hero packs, troopers, and more. For the time being, what can be confirmed based on information from the studio, is that we will see preorders go live in early 2024. Mantic Games is yet to confirm whether we can realistically expect to also get our hands on updated models from the old release.

After all, who doesn’t love to get a bit of refreshed raisin to slab paint on? We know, we do. If you are bored in the meantime, Mantic Games says, you may try The Walking Dead: The Dice Game. If you are looking for more excellent zombie board games, we just so happen to have a full list of options for you.
