For decades, Uno has entertained players of all ages at parties, family game nights, pubs and bars, and even competitive tournaments. Ever since it launched in 1971, the game has become a cult classic and a mainstay of many households and tabletop game clubs and spawned many different versions and spin-offs. However, you may not want to share this latest version of Uno with your children.

“Adults Only” Adds a Lot of Spice to the Popular Card Game

When it comes to the many iterations of Uno, its “Dare” version is probably one of the most popular ones, adding a touch of dare-devilishness to the game, albeit a family-friendly one. However, Mattel has decided to test out an “adults only” version of the game that is clearly not suitable for persons under 18 years of age.

This version of Uno Dare adds a series of very spicy challenges to change up the game quite a lot. The game itself is played just like normal Uno but with the addition of Dare and Wild Dare cards. These cards allow players to add various dare prompts to the game

Normal Uno Dare games utilize just one Dare card per deck, with the prompts being relatively sane. However, the “Adults Version” has more of them, which can range from relatively minor tasks, similar to those in the vanilla game, to ones that may seem funny, but are clearly inappropriate for a younger audience.

According to some previews, the Dare cards have several levels of prompts, ranging from “Mild” to “Fuego”. The lowest rank of spiciness has prompts such as “bark like a chihuahua” or “do a supermodel walk across the room”. However, things just get wilder as the “spiciness level” only increases. Some of the crazier prompts include things such as “hum the couch” or “let another player spank you”. It’s safe to say that Mattel’s new add to higher pro Uno players will not include the condition to participate in such somewhat obscene games. Fortunately for many players, it seems that the Adults Only version of the game might include some sort of opt-out card or option for the sake of safety.

Over the past 50 years, Uno has cemented itself as one of the most popular party card games out there. This is partially due to the different versions the game has to offer, such as a licensed one that includes DC and Marvel superheroes, or Uno Quattro – a game that involves tiles and a board that allows players to move entire rows easily. It could be argued that the “Adults Only” is yet another iteration that will add to the popularity of the already quite successful franchise.
