Company of Heroes: Board Game will be hitting retail after all, as confirmed by Bad Crow Games, the publisher behind the game’s transformation to a tabletop sensation. Based on the video game of the same name, Company of Heroes 2nd Edition is a slightly revamped version of the original that was released in 2021 and in the midst of a very successful Kickstarter campaign.
The first game collected $830,882 from 4,526 total backers. The new edition topped that and attracted 5,513 backers with $1,219,718 with many original backers returning to get the compatibility add-on that allows owners of the first edition to get the perks of the second for $49. Some 1,181 users have backed the Veteran Backers 2nd Edition Update Kit.
Although the campaign featured quite a few goodies, not all of these will be coming to retail. This is the bad news. The good news is that there will be a retail release as confirmed.
Company of Heroes 2nd Edition Coming with All the Bells and Whistles
Quartermaster Direct will bring Company of Heroes 2E to retail, with the core edition along with the Fog of War and Solo Expansion for those who wish to expand on their Company of Heroes experience from the get-go.
Just like the computer game by Sega and Relic, Company of Heroes: Board Game 2E is centered around World War II with players collecting fuel, munitions, and mustering manpower and armored vehicle to establish control over the battlefield and win the necessary control points to win.
The gameplay has been revamped to include new tactical choices and has introduced balances to the core game as well. Plus, there are even more units to choose from with the base game already offering an outstanding variety of spot-on options. The gameplay is set at 90 minutes and the game is fit for anything between 2 and 6 players depending on how many expansions and extra figures you have. The retail version only seems to offer the core version, however, so keep this in mind.
