Cephalofair Games are on a roll as of late with the announcement of Gloomhaven: The Role Playing Game’s Launch party and its 600-miniature set, and now, the addition of Gloomhaven: Second Edition. Both products will be available on BackerKit come June 20, when the campaign officially launches.
Gloomhaven: Second Edition will essentially be an updated and improved version of the original critically acclaimed board game. And while the world, story, and gameplay will remain the same in the Second Edition, Cephalofair Games have revealed that there will be new items, scenarios, quests, narratives, events, highly detailed and updated miniatures, a new faction-based reputation system, and tons of community-driven. And if that wasn’t enough, Cephalofair Games have also confirmed that there will be rebalanced and redesigned mercenary classes in the Second Edition – something the community has wanted for a while.
According to Isaac Childres, designer of Gloomhaven and founder of Cephalofair Games, the revision of the original game is incredibly thorough and carefully thought through, thanks to the help of Gloomhaven: Second Edition project leads Drew Penn and Dennis Vögele. The project leads have stated they spent the last six years reading community feedback, taking every bit of criticism under special consideration, thus ensuring the second edition is everything the fans have ever wanted from a Gloomhaven adventure.
Full Compatibility With the Role Playing Game Ensures Endless Possibilities
This makes it a perfect starting point for new players who are willing to dive into the rich world of Gloomhaven. Experienced players will also find the Second Edition enjoyable, due to its many new additions and balance changes. Furthermore, all of the Gloomhaven: Second Edition components will be fully compatible with Gloomhaven: Role Playing Game, so new and experienced players can play both editions, choose all the bits and pieces they like and make their own epic roleplaying adventure with their own unique flavor.
We cannot stress enough how much the new editions will positively impact the game, making it more diverse and accessible than ever before. The new array of components, tiles, and encounters of every kind will provide endless hours of fun for novices and experienced players alike. Cephalofair Games plans to produce Gloomhaven: Second Edition sometime in 2024, but no exact dates have been shared at this time. Meanwhile, Cobalt Knight studio has been hoping to acquire the rights to creating a movie or TV series based on the franchise.
