Steamforged Games Ltd has completed yet another successful Kickstarter campaign with the company meeting its funding goal for Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion. This 1-4-player cooperative board game had an original funding goal of $152,000 with the project securing $1.3 million (£1 million) in total contributions from 6,720 backers. The last two hours saw more than 500 backers jump on the crowdfunding train.
Steamforged Games Excited to Tell Horizon’s New Chapter
Set in the familiar setting of the acclaimed video game, Seeds of Rebellion is due to arrive in 2025 and is designed by a familiar trio of designers, to wit Mat Hart, Fraser McFetridge and Sherwin Matthews. The game focuses on the Forbidden West, a dangerous frontier populated by mechanical enemies where tribes band together and try to survive in what is a fragile peace maintained by different factions.
The player and fellow Marshals will seek to try and stop a plot that is trying to shatter the peace of the frontier where the Tenakth clans are on the brink of war because of the shadowy machinations of nefarious parties.
Steamforged Games has outlined everything there is to know about the game, including deck-building mechanics, intelligent combat, cooperative experience, a brand-new canon story, equipment crafting and more.
For fans of the video game franchise, the action is set specifically between the events of the Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West games. The successfully funded campaign is a feather in Steamforged Games’ cap, not least because some players have been worried about past mistakes, such as the ones committed in the original Horizon Zero Dawn replicated in the newest title.
Yet, the majority of reviewer opinions tend to dismiss such qualms, and the community has been fairly optimistic about the new product. Forbidden West is somewhat based on Monster Hunter, another successful Steamforged Games’ project that seems to be getting a lot of positive energy.
Past Criticism Should Not Sully Newest Experiences
Although there have been some misunderstandings about the latest Dark Souls game, Steamforged Games has shown itself to be fully committed to its product lineup and transparent about any mistakes that may have been made on behalf of the company.
As some players have justly pointed out, even the original Horizon Zero Dawn was not as bad as some reviewers made it out to be, so much as it was a bit of negative bias instilled by the Dark Souls project.
Yet, if there is one thing that Seeds of Rebellion is – that is Steamforged Games deservedly funded project, pulling support from thousands of backers keen to get the next tabletop miniatures experience Kickstarter has been the preferred funding platform for Steamforged Games.
