Games Workshop is caught in the midst of excitement as the company’s signature game, Warhammer 40,000, is launching its 10th season. This is happening as the manufacturer has reported mounting sales, with Games Workshop confirming that it expects its full-year revenue to hit £440 ($560m), up from £387 million last year.
Closing a Strong Year Despite Some Performance Shortcomings
The 10th edition of Warhammer 40K may have played a significant role in this. The 52-week period ended on May 28, 2023, will also see the company’s licensing income reach £25 million, slightly down from the £28 million reported last year. Nevertheless, Games Workshop now expects to see its pre-tax profit hit £170 million, up from £157 million in 2022.
Profit share payments for a total of £11 million have already been paid out to staff members, up from the £10 million offered to employees last year. In the meantime, Games Workshop global head of marketing Helen Smallridge commented on the results and the financial momentum of the year:
From humble beginnings, Warhammer has grown into a British institution and a global success, with our fantasy miniatures collected by millions around the world. We hope this new stamp range will be a treat for fans, and for those who have yet to discover our rich and fantastical worlds.

The upbeat forecast is definitely in line with company expectations, although Games Workshop confirmed some headwinds in the United States. Earlier this year, the Games Workshop cautioned that it had not been able to yet release its full potential in the country and admitted that it could have done a much better job.
The full report covering Games Workshop’s results is due on July 25 and it will provide clarity into the company’s exact financials. Meanwhile, fans have been snapping up Games Workshop’s Leviathan box for the upcoming 10th edition of Warhammer 40K, with no copies left to be found on the official website less than 48 hours after pre-order kicked off on Saturday, June 10.
