Move over, Spooktober, Wraithpril is now the scariest month of the year! This year’s April 8, Games Workshop’s Warhammer Age of Sigmar will put another undead boxed set into pre-order – Vanguard: Soulblight Gravelords. We already covered the other debuting undead faction, the Ossiarch Bonereapers, who will also be in pre-order on April 8, 2023.

Brace Yourself, the Undead Are Coming to Age of Sigmar!

Much like their Ossiarch Bonereaper brethren, the Soulblight Gravelords will also be receiving a dedicated battletome in Battletome: Soulblight Gravelords. Its contents consist of extensive rules for each of the playable vampiric and bestial dynasties – the strange and animalistic Vyrkos, the mind-warped Avengorii, and the bloodthirsty and noble Kastelai Dynasty. Last, but not least, the additional rules will also extend to the esteemed Legions of Blood and Night.

Since we’ll be living in “simplified, not simple” times in Warhammer’s 10th Edition, the Soulblight Gravelords will also have dedicated Warscroll Cards, including a Warscroll for the Askurgan Trueblades, the bloodthirsty vampire hunters featured in the most recent Warcry expansion.

Battletome: Soulblight Gravelords will contain 29 high-quality detailed miniatures of the following units:

  • 20 Deathrattle Skeletons – the core of almost every Vampire Lord’s army, they are tireless, remorseless, and never complain of too much battle or too little rest. What more can a Vampire Lord need?
  • 5 Blood Knights – perfecting the art of combat over several lifetimes, these mounted full-plated vampiric knights love nothing more than to charge into the lines of unworthy mortals to have their towering skeletal steeds trample them to death.
  • 3 Vargheists – towering, devolved noble Vampires, ever thirsty for blood, ready to tear the flesh of any enemy in their blood-crazed frenzy.
  • A Vampire Lord – masters of physical combat and the deathly magics of Shyish, these vampires are quintessential to any Soulblight army. Each one is worth a thousand mortal soldiers.

Two New Stand-Alone Figures and Other Spooky Goodies

The Soulblight Gravelords will also receive a dedicated dice set matching their bestial bloodthirst. Games Workshop will also release two high-quality detailed figures alongside the boxed set. The first is Ivya Volga, The Outcast – a member of the animalistic Vyrkos dynasty, she fights with bestial strength and cunning. For preferring the lowly bat over the revered and mighty wolf, and for that, she is shunned by her elders, who marked her as an outcast.

The second figure will be a Wight King on Skeletal Steed model, a skeletal lord of the Deathrattle nations armed with a deadly Tomb Lance. These undead juggernauts ride at the forefront of the Soulblight Gravelord army’s advance, crushing anyone in their wake.
