You may have missed the arrival of the Leviathan Box and this is just a fact of life. Yet, you need not worry about missing out on a starter set for Warhammer 40,000 10th edition as Games Workshop has confirmed three sets that will be available for preorder very soon.
The sets are, as is customary for the company, scaled so that players can get into the hobby at their own pace, and not be immediately overwhelmed with too much – or too little for that matter – painting and gameplay. The entry-level box is a standard Warhammer 40,000: Start Here Introductory set which comes with push-fit miniatures, much like in the Warhammer Underworlds series, which includes 5 Infernus Marines, 10 Termagants, and a Ripper Swarm. The box also comes with a 48-page introductory handbook, modeling supplies and paints to get your standards.
If you look past the starter set, then there is a dedicated Warhammer 40,000: Introductory Set which comes along with 38 push-fit minis, including a Captain in Terminator Armor, 5 Terminator, and 5 Infernus Marines, all of whom will fight off against a Winged Tyranid Primer, 20 Termagants, 2 Ripper Swarms, a Psychophage, and 3 Von Ryan’s Leapers. The Start Handbook is also included along with two rules reference sheets, 10 dice, 2 range rules, and a cardboard gaming mat to get you started.

Then, you have the third option, which is the Warhammer 40,000: Ultimate Starter set which will really get you going. Basically, this is an elite edition that will copy the Introductory Set but then add a few more things. Among the extra goodies you get are the Librarian in Terminator Armor and 5 Barbgaunts. This way, you will have two armies that can now play the Combat Patrol-sized modes.
In case you have missed the news, Games Workshop has made sure to redesign the 10th edition of Warhammer 40,000 so that it now accommodates balanced Cobalt Patrol fights. If you would rather get started with the Leviathan Box which is not going to be available for much longer if it is at all where you are based, you can buy your copy at Amazon US.
Players who are keen to get started but would rather grab a full Combat Patrol and be ready for battle have two options – either get the Ultimate Starter set or check out the available Combat Patrol boxes you can buy right away and start assembling and soon after – playing.
