Amid a flurry of changes and developments in Games Workshop, the company has been systematically upgrading its manufacturing capabilities, the company’s financial report for 2022-2023 show. The British firm has spent at least $8 million on new molds, that are designed to produce a new type of plastic, the manufacturer of the Warhammer franchise, among other miniatures games, outlined in its latest financial reporting.

There were no specific details revealed, however, as to which models from the manufacturer’s long lineage of miniatures received the enhanced plastic and production process. One theory is that the new plastic is mostly for the miniatures designed in the second quarter of 2022, but then again Games Workshop usually produces minis in bulk months in advance, which means we may still not have seen the new plastic miniatures.

Apart from the molds, the company confirmed that it spent another $2.3 million on various other manufacturing paraphernalia, such as milling, painting machines, injection molding, tooling, and more. Presently, the company manufacturers all of its products out of a 10,800 square foot dedicated hub.

All the while, the company has been able to hit pre-tax profit of $220 million, with the franchise’s popularity continuing to grow. The company’s core revenue stood at $569.6 million. Both results put the company well ahead of its 2022 performance.

Amazon has agreed to produce a much-anticipated series TV series with Games Workshop which will star Henry Cavill, the world’s most famous nerd, and a Warhammer fan himself.  This also comes at a time when Games Workshop is going back to its roots and launching a new Warhammer: The Old World game that is set in a universe and franchise that has been developing over the past 30 years and is arguably more immersive than its much younger sapling, Age of Sigmar.
