Firefly: The Game has left a blazing trail in the board game community and industry and the title is very much alive and kicking to this day – never mind FOX Network’s short-sighted decision to cancel the show it is based on back in 2002. The franchise’s adaptation to the tabletop hobby by Gale Force 9 has been quite the success and has brought Firefly’s distinct world alive in Firefly: The Game.
Firefly Brings Back the Core Box with Many New Goodies
Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the board game, Gale Force 9 has decided to have a new edition for the game, the biggest ever made. The “Firefly: The Game – 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition” is now available as a campaign preview on Gamefound and it promises to bring tons of goodies for the fans of the franchise and the boardgame.
The Collector’s Edition is determined to get things even better for fans, with a lot more goodies and additions to try in the box. There will be dedicated holographic big heroes which will be available to early backers of the new edition. All the more reason to consider backing it yourself.
There has been a lot of speculation about what new content may be added to the base game already. Players hope to find more gripping narratives worth exploring. Gale Force 9 is of course similarly hoping to see more players return to the game and try the new edition. The new title will of course follow the success of the original in design.
In Firefly: The Game released in 2013, designers Aaron Dill, John Kovaleski and Sean Sweigart came together to create a 120-240-minute gripping 1-4-player experience set in the Firefly universe. The game’s plot is summed up as – “Find a crew. Find a job. Keep flying.”
The original got a solid number of votes on the BoardGameGeek rating system. Furthermore, Firefly: The Game is a product of sound design, fantastic play depth and a highly-rewarding overall experience that has reimagined the Firefly Universe with unfaltering resolve and commitment.
The new game has been listed as 120 minutes of play time fit for players aged 14+. There are no changes to the player count either. Once again, players will gather their crew, keep an eye on the horizon and be ready to take off again in this special newly-minted edition!
