Lucky Duck Games is releasing a special edition of the critically acclaimed Food Chain Magnate, the popular highly strategic board game about building a fast food chain. The new special edition’s Gamefound campaign blew up – its goal was reached in just 7 minutes and 13 seconds. Now that’s lightning quick! As of writing this article, the game has a total of 5,257 backers which pledged an overwhelming €1,306,571. That’s over 1,739% funded!

This is, obviously, an earth-shattering success. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter what genre your game is, if it’s done right, people will support it. Per the Gamefound campaign, the Special Edition will play just the same as the original game, where you take on the role of a fast food CEO aiming to build the best fast food chain you possibly can. Despite it being a board game, you will have to go through every loop, trial and tribulation of the corporate world – marketing, staff hiring, finance management, sales, firings and what have you. It’s a heavy, highly strategic game, with serious sessions sometimes taking more than 4 hours.

The 1950s Come to Life. The 1950s Done Right!

So, the biggest question in everyone’s mind is: “What’s different from the original, since the gameplay’s the same?” The answer is simple – aesthetics, in a big, and I mean big way. For starters, the game’s art will be significantly updated, following the Norman Rockwell-inspired marketing style that is the hallmark of the 1950s. That alone will give the game a fresh, new look, but it only scratches the surface.

Lucky Duck Games are going overboard with a very ambitious goal – making the entire game 3D. This means all the houses, all the restaurants, all the stop signs everything will be fully 3D.

Not only that, all game components will be 25% larger, making the game more alive and dynamic than ever before. The map components will also receive a major revamp, making them multi-layered for the sole purpose of player convenience. That way, you will be able to track your buildings and progress way easier, while giving the game board components the same 3D treatment as the models. Essentially, it will be like playing in a real city!

This insane attention to detail will also be applied to the in-game paper money, which will be deluxe prints, with added real feel, so you can feel the growth and success as your food chain reaches the top. The Special Edition will also include a deluxe box for ease of storage.

It’s made with attention, from high-quality materials – perfect for your board game raft or display. The cherry on top is that this Special Edition of Food Chain Magnate will not be available anywhere else but in Gamefound. Only backers will receive a physical copy of the game, which will undoubtedly make its value skyrocket. Lucky Duck Games have definitely outdone themselves with this one.
