One of the hottest Magic: The Gathering cards on the market even prior to its release, a rare copy of The One Ring, has now been purchased by rapper Post Malone. The artist, who is known for songs such as Chemical and Psycho, has reportedly bought one of the valuable and rare copies of the game that was introduced by Wizards of the Coast in their Universes Beyond set.

In fact, only one copy of The One Ring is known to exist, as Wizards of the Coast said that they wanted to characterize the card with the significance the namesake artefact in JRR Tolkien’s epic saga has. The actual price of the purchase is not immediately clear, but we have some facts to work with.

The card is a Mint 9 condition, assigned by Professional Sports Authenticator, and previous offers by Gremio de Dragones, a Spanish hobby store, and several other personalities, the card has gone to Malone. Last time, the bounty for the card had been raised to $2 million by the hobby store, which means that Malone has probably that.

A TikTok video shared by Brooktrafton, a platform user, shows the user hugging Malone and handing over the card. Brooktrafton is visibly moved by the exchange and hugs Malone through tears. Malone is equally excited.

In the description, Brooktrafton says that he cherishes Magic: The Gathering and collecting cards, but the opportunity to sell this card for the undisclosed price is “lifechanging.” The user said that he was exceptionally happy to be trading this card to a person who seems to share his own appreciation for the game.

“This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale,” the user said in the video description. This is not Post Malone’s first major purchase of a Magic: The Gathering card. The rapper bought another rarity – Black Lotus – for a total of $800,000, and he is one of the most avid collectors in our hobby.
