Do I Need Every Hero Pack Expansion to Play Marvel Champions?
No, you never need buy any expansion beyond Marvel Champions’ core game. All of these expansions listed here need the core game to be played. Most of the new heroes and characters are not necessarily too different or too powerful compared to the old ones.
They are mostly developed to connect with fans who wish to play Marvel Champions with the characters they like best. This is why Fantasy Flight Games releases all of these expansions separately and allows players to buy whichever expansions they like best.
If you are a completionist and prefer to have every single Hero Pack, you can go ahead and do just that. We recommend taking a look at the other expansions that are available, however. It’s not all Hero Packs.
Where Do I Find New Heroes for Marvel Champions Besides Hero Packs?
New heroes are also available through Campaign Expansions for Marvel Champions. You will find different heroes in some of the big boxes that introduce many new villains and cards, as well as some mechanics. The game’s first Campaign Expansion, The Rise of Red Skull, features Hawkeye and Spider-Woman as ready heroes with pre-construed decks.

The Rise of Red Skull is the first Campaign Expansion for Marvel Champions released on September 4, 2020. This is also one of the highest rated campaigns ever with 8.5/10 votes on BoardGameGeek. The campaign focuses on defeating Red Skull and his allies, including Crossbones, Absorbing Man, Taskmaster, Zola, and Red Skull. Defeating each villain will be part of a scenario – offering you five brand new scenarios to play through. This is also the first Campaign Expansion that introduces the “campaign mode” to the game.

The Galaxy’s Most Wanted

The Galaxy’s Most Wanted Campaign Expansion for Marvel Champions was inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The campaign brings five new scenarios where you will fight against Drang of the Brotherhood of Badoon, Nebula, Ronan the Accuser and The Collector, who will be available in two of the scenarios. The box also introduces the first Guardian of the Galaxy heroes, with Groot and Rocket Racoon ready and waiting with a fully pre-constructed deck each. The box comes with 250 new cards.

The Mad Titan’s Shadow

The Mad Titan’s Shadow is one of the biggest Marvel Champions Campaign Expansions with 264 cards. The campaign, as you may have guessed, centers on Thanos, a titan who sets to restore balance in the universe by culling half of it. Thanos will muster his loyalists and followers and send them against you in this five-scenario campaign with the Mad Titan finally taking to the fight himself in the decisive fight. His Black Order will first dispatch villains such as Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Corvus Glaive that you must defeat. The expansion also features the Adam Warlock and Spectrum heroes that come with pre-constructed decks.

Sinister Motives

Mutant Genesis is the X-Men treatment that Marvel Champions has always deserver. NeXt Evolution

NeXt Evolution is the latest campaign installment in Marvel Champions: The Card Game. An unknown evil is focusing on Hope Summers, a well-meaning mutant girl who may be well over her head and soon could fall victim to that same evil which needs her to unleash a great calamity. However, not all is lost as X-Force will have the final say whether the evil succeeds in the end. The sixth campaign brings new playable characters, including Cable and Domino, both of whom will come with pre-built decks and be ready to go. As to the opponents, players better buckle up because they will square off against Marauders, Juggernaut, and Mister Sinister. All scenarios may be played individually or as part of a larger campaign. The sixth expansion is also perfect for new players of the franchise!

Age of Apocalypse

The campaign introduces Bishop and Magic as playable characters with their own decks ready to go out the box. Although exciting, there is much pain that has been caused along the way – Professor X is dead, hope is almost nowhere to be found, and you take on your toughest fight yet. Do I Buy Every Marvel Champions Campaign?
Unlike the Hero Packs, the Marvel Champions Campaign Expansions are actually a lot of fun, they bring you fresh encounters to enjoy and explore, and new challenges to overcome. While buying each and everyone is not mandatory, there is value in each box you scoop up. If you prefer, you can sell some of your old Campaign Expansions to try a new one. All in all, it will come down to personal preference.
Marvel Champions Scenario Packs
Marvel Champions Scenario Packs are another way to expand the game and what you can do in it. The Scenario Packs usually introduce new villains, but along with that, new environments, scenarios, and objectives to the game. They allow players to try besting a previously unseen opponent and are a way to keep the game fresh.

The Hood brings you nine encounters that you can play in any order, with the ultimate goal being the defeat of the scarlet threat himself.
