Steamforged Games announced the Kickstarter campaign of “Rivet Wars: Reloaded” on Tuesday, which got the fans of the franchise buzzing with excitement.
“Rivet Wars”, the beloved game from Ted Terranova (the video game designer responsible for such beloved titles as: “Rise of Nations”, “Age of Empires III”, and “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning”) is getting a long awaited reboot! Steamforged Games announced in July that the company had acquired the rights for the out-of-print tabletop game “Rivet Wars”.
Steamforged Games is a leading UK tabletop games developer and publisher, known for prominent miniature-based board game titles such as “Dark Souls – The Board Game”, “Horizon Zero Dawn – The Board Game”, “Resident Evil 3 – The Board Game”,”Monster Hunter World: The Board Game” and many more. The studio has a proven track record when it comes to board game releases, so this is great news for the fans of the “Rivet Wars” franchise.
“I was captivated by Rivet Wars on its original release. The world of Rivet is such a fun and exciting place and we have huge plans for where we can take the original concept.
We want to develop the game in an exciting and unique direction, that original fans will love, but will also capture the imagination of new fans alike,” said Steamforged Games founder and COO Mat Hart. Clearly, there is a log of passion being put into the game already. The “Rivet Wars: Reloaded” Kickstarter campaign is set to launch on September 6, 2022. Setting, Gameplay, Mechanics and More!
The original “Rivet Wars” combined the grittiness of World War I, with the diametrical cuteness of chibi aesthetics. This unique contrast in styles worked wonderfully, and made the original game unique. This, and the excellent game design, led to the game having five very successful expansions.
The mechanics of “Rivet Wars” were quite simple – the game focused on the collection of various resources and deploying new units in order to stay ahead of your opponents. Each of the expansions brought something new to the table – adding heavy artillery, aircraft, and even mech-inspired battle armor. Naturally, the setting of “Rivet Wars: Reloaded” will remain true to the original – it will be set in the world of Rivet – a World War I inspired setting.
Much like the original, strategic decision-making will be the key to success. This, and the opportunity to steer the gameplay in a different direction in each round, makes for an incredibly fun, fast-paced frantic experience. The new faction will bring a whole new level of excitement to the game.
