Dire Wolf has released an update on its progress as it prepares to bring Dune: Imperium – Uprising, the popular standalone expansion of the Dune: Imperium board game, to its digital catalogue.
Dire Wolf Brings Beloved Dune Standalone Game to Digital Portfolio
Dire Wolf has built some of the world’s most faithful adaptations of tabletop games, bringing them to a digital variant that has been praised by fans, with the latest game to join the portfolio – Dune: Imperium – Uprising. The announcemnet came around the same time, Dire Wolf revealed more details about the company’s Wheel of Time-inspired board game.
Highlighting the upcoming game, a faithful adaptation of the board game no less, Dire Wolf offered several screenshots along with commentary on what to expect, including a reshaped Arrakis for one, with the new board giving players ripe opportunities as they vie for geopolitical influence by choosing from nine leaders.
The digital game will feature plenty of novelty elements, including calling on Shai-Hulud as a tool of war, mustering the sandworms forward into battle, taking out rival mining operations, and putting them on the back foot, with devastating options, such as detonating the Shield Wall.
Players will be invited to steer the greed-fueled corporate madness to their own profit by opting for profitable contracts under the CHOAM Company and pulling ahead of competitors.
Spies will weave intrigue and put alliances in power, while Dire Wolf builds on an expansive world that offers players a rare glimpse into masterful political scheming that takes patience, skill, and a love for complexity to navigate.
The nine brand-new leaders will be enough to diversify the gameplay for long-standing veterans of the franchise, offering them a shot as Shaddam Corrino IV, Muad’Dib, or Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.
The game also features new Achievements meant to offer new challenges to complete, other than outsmarting rivals on the board. While Dune: Imperium – Uprising can be played on its own, it is also cross-compatible with previous digital versions (and physical) of the game, including Rise of Ix and Immortality.
The new game will be launched on Dire Wolf’s shop and Steam shop on Tuesday, June 9.
Dire Wolf’s library of digital adaptations features its own games as well as third-party titles, with games such as Cascadia, Clank, Ark Nova, Root, Everdell, Munchkin, and many more all finding a faithful and celebrated implementation.
