Space, mankind thought – that is a fine place to throw your garbage. The eco-minded players among you need not worry because Junk Orbit isn’t just about throwing garbage wherever you want. It’s also about scavenging much of it and making an honest if somewhat grubby living.

In Space Nobody Cares about Junk – But You!

The 2018 original is coming back with Renegade Game Studios giving it a bit of revamp and setting the release date for July 2023. The game puts 1-5 players who play over 30-40 minutes and travel across systems and planets to scoop up some recyclable waste and fill their pockets.

Of course, this is not always easy, as all this junk means you need to navigate it, too, making your way to planets and moons. As the publisher puts it, it’s “astrodynamics for fun and profit.” The gameplay is rather streamlined as well, with players usually launching junk, moving their ship, or picking up a new piece of space junk.

Because players will have unique ships, those ships will be able to use special abilities that allow them to secure different advantages. As to what updates have gone into the new version, players will get pretty much the same standard box with two mini-expansions – Mission Control and Tours Mini-Expansion.

The game now has a solo mode, which is cool if you want to try it out on your own (mind the previous version was set for 2-5 people). The expansions are a nice touch as they add new ship cards and player powers and you get new ways to score points as well for extra vareity and perhaps a few new stratagems. Renegade Game Studios will have the game available for $30 which is a pretty good price tag.

Reminiscent of Galaxy Trucker, but minus the misery that befalls players on every track in the CGE’s games, Junk Orbit is a fun, quick, and exciting game.
