Renegade Game Studios has announced a limited-time preorder of “Wayfarers of the South Tigris.” The game is the latest installment in the “Raiders of the North Sea,” “Architects of the West Kingdom,” and “Raiders of Scythia” board games universe. Now, the publisher is running a pre-sale ahead of the planned Q4 2022 release which will feature a 9-Card Promo Pack free of charge.

The promo pack will feature additional cards which can be used to secure the final objectives in the game and they will have gameplay value. Renegade Game Studios has not set a date on what the closing window on the deal is, with the studio probably planning to run the offer for the next several weeks at least.
The new game is set during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, circa 820AD, and reinvents the topics discovered in the previous iterations. This is the first time designers S J Macdonald and Shem Philips have set the story in the Middle East.
In “Wayfarers of the South Tigris,” players will have to advance their civilizational knowledge by setting out on journeys into the unknown and bringing back recollections of their travels. The knowledge will then be used to advance the House of Wisdom as each individual player strives to impress the Caliph.
Once again, the game’s objective is simple and a winner is selected based on who has the most victory points. All participants will try to map out the land, water, and sky to better improve the Abbasid Caliphate’s understanding of nature, the world, and the universe.
The game is a refreshing installment in the series and one that deserves the community’s attention. Once again, the designers have partnered with Mihajlo Dimitrievski who is illustrating the upcoming release as well as the two titles already announced for 2024 and 2025, “Scholars of the South Tigris” and “Inventors of the South Tigris” respectively.

The upcoming game is also well received by the community, many of whom will wait until the game hits retail shelves to acquire a copy. The fact that “Wayfarer of the South Tigris” is a trilogy has already struck home with many of the fans of the previous series. Garphill Games is also releasing two expansions for “Viscounts of the West Kingdom” this year, to wit “Keepers of Key” and “Gates of Gold.”
