Dark Horse comics’ “Harrow County” board game recently launched its Kickstarter page to great success. “Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict” has already far exceeded the $54,000 funding goal, making $121,000 in less than five days. As a matter of fact, the funding goal was funded in less than three hours after the page officially launched on October 4th – a great sign for a successful game to come.

“Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict” will be a 1v1 asymmetric board game in which players will choose one of three factions (Protectors, The Family, and Kammi), all of which battle for control over Harrow County. Each one of the factions will have its own mechanics and objectives. The game also offers an option for a third player, which adds additional rules. Furthermore, the third player will have to play as Hester, the dead witch buried under the tree – she will also have her own unique mechanics and objectives, which will add an extra layer of spiciness to every playthrough.

But wait, there’s room for one more! The game’s “Fair Folk” expansion will add one additional player slot and a whole new faction, increasing the total number of players up to 4. Naturally, the new expansion will add new mechanics, further increasing the game’s complexity and replayability potential.

New Modes and Features Still to Be Unlocked

Another prospect to be excited about is the possible inclusion of a solo mode, which will be unlocked should the game reach its $250000 stretch goal. Given its successful start, the goal seems well within reach.

The original “Harrow County” comic is centered around 18-year-old Emmy – a young woman who slowly discovers her witch powers while trying to defend her home of Harrow County against dark magic users who seek to destroy it for their own means, One of these dark magic users happens to be the above – mentioned burned witch Hester.

“Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict” is designed by the duo of Jay Cormier (known for Mind MGMT, In the Hall of the Mountain King, and others) and Shad Miller. The game’s art will be done by none other than Tyler Crook – “Harrow County” comic series lead artist. What’s awesome about this is that the fans of the comic book will get to play some of their favorite characters and experience the story like never before. “Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict” will be published by Off the Page Games – the board game studio behind “Mind MGMT”.

The “Harrow County: The Game of Gothic Conflict” Kickstarter page will remain open until October 27th. A $65 USD pledge will grant backers a base copy of the game, while the Deluxe Edition, which includes the “Fair Folk” expansion, is available for a $99 pledge.

More news is bound to come up while the Kickstarter page is up, but don’t worry – we’ll keep you posted!
