You may have heard of publisher Blue Wing Games and Andrew Sallwasser’s excellent tile-laying game, “Biergarten” or Beer Garden published in 2016. Well, the team is back at it again bringing the game for a second edition, adding changes to the gameplay and art, but only to improve upon the original design.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with Biergarten Second Edition

So, it’s almost Oktoberfest and it’s down to you to build the best Biergarten. To get there, you need to use your flair for good brew and make sure that you are ahead of the competition, of whom you will have up to four. The game is designed for 1-5 players, which is a slight change from the 2-5 players which was the case with the original version. Biergarten should play in anything between 20 and 30 minutes.

However, the popularity of solo plays in board gaming has made designers and publishers think very hard before releasing a game without the option to play it on your own. This is the case in “Biergarten” as well. The altered player count is more of a convenience thing, though, and you can expect to find the fairly same game-scoring mechanic present in the first game.

Players will have the option to draw tiles from a marketplace or from other players’ hands, and score points by having matching colors, linking up umbrellas, or even walling in their Biergarten to make sure prying eyes stay away. The goal of the game is to prepare nicely for the upcoming beer festival and win the most points by Oktoberfest.

Expect Gamefound Campaign to Arrive in Q3, 2022

Blue Wing Games promise improved components, new art by Baptiste Michard known for his work on “The Last Bottle of Rum,” fresh gameplay tangents to explore, and more. Raise your glass to this Oktoberfest magic. The game is still preparing to launch on Gamefound where it has set up a crowdfunding campaign preview. The campaign is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2022.
