Trickdraw,” a new fast-paced card game of “magic flippin’ cowboys” by House Fish Balloon has just completed its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The game raised $36,782 by 757 backers exceeding its original goal of $10,000.

Sleight of Hand and Smart Plays Get You Victory

“Trickdraw” is a game where sleight of hand will go a long way to advance your agenda and where you can play with up to 15 players. The game is set to take anything between 5 and 30 minutes and is intended for players 12+.

The game brings along with it a unique world crafted specifically for the purposes of the design. “The World of Saloondria” brings together competing rivals, and among them knights, wizards, thieves and yes, cowboys.

Trickdraw Junction, the focal point of the gameplay, is where this motley bunch meets up, attempting to collect treasures and create powerful combos that will turn them into the local hero, or villain. The gameplay and maximum player count will depend on how many decks you have.

A standard deck will get you anything up to five players while two decks of “Trickdraw” will expand on how many people may participate at any one time. House Fish Balloon has already provided some details about the gameplay.

It takes only 10 points to win and you play your cards face up or face down. Face down cards count as gold and are equal one point each. Playing a card face up though will allow you to perform actions. The gameplay focuses on the reuse of already played cards which can throw a spanner in the plans of your opponents.

There is some to-and-fro in actually understanding the main dynamic of the game and when points are scored, but a quick read through the rules is all it takes. Players vie to create strong combos, project strength and bluff when necessary and work a nefarious plan on the backfoot when in retreat.

Affordable, Easy to Get into and Great Bit of Fun

Each play will bring a fresh variety to the gameplay with players adapting to the cards to ensure that they score the maximum points before anyone else can. The rulebook is only 10-page long and you will have no trouble getting onboard with the gameplay.

The retail copy of “Trickdraw” will cost $25, a very affordable pricing. The game is expected to release in November 2022 with Kickstarter backers naturally calling dips. At the time of writing, 17 cards have been revealed on the official House Fish Balloon website.

The game is designed by Blake Propach and Morteza Rohaninejad, both new to the board game community with no official projects listed on BoardGameGeek. As to House Fish Balloon, this is also a new studio with the other project currently available being a game by the name of “1961.” Want to check out “Trickdraw?” The game is also available on Tabletopia.
