CMON is back with a new franchise set in the King Arthur legend and era. The board game, which is due to launch on Kickstarter soon, bears the apt name of Mordred, the treacherous nephew of the king.
The game sets in the period when Britain and the Fae realm merged, with King Arthur disappearing without a trace in the event after Mordred cast a powerful spell to cause the event. This has given rise to different factions in the courtyard which are now vying for power and establishing full domination over the kingdom.
Each player will try to win favor as one of the three legendary leaders caught in the strife, including Mordred, Morgana, and Merlin. Players will attempt to impress the leaders by controlling swathes of territories and containing their opponents.
The Arthurian Legend Comes to Live on Your Tabletop
The game itself promises to be every bit as fun as CMON has been known to make its titles. Mordred is illustrated by Adrian Smith, who is known for his work on titles such as Blood Rage, Ankh and Rising Sun, and it is the original design of Alexio Schneeberger, with some additional design by Andrea Chiarvesio.
Each of the greater leaders will be further enrapt by their designs and machinations, with Merlin looking to restore Arthur, and Mordred lamenting the two-faced game played by his mother. Mordred yearns to prove himself by finding Arthur and facing him in one final battle.
Mordred does not care much who you are as long as you swear his allegiance, but so do the other leaders. To gain favor with any of them, you would need to feel out the dynamic of the game and land yourself in a good position with your chosen favorite. More gameplay details will be coming forth in due time as CMON has promised.
