Castle of Mad King Ludwig returns again with a brand new play style. Instead of placing tiles to design the King’s castle, players will be now equipped with pencils and paper in the new flip-and-sketch game, Blueprints of Mad King Ludwig.

Build Mad King Ludwig’s Castle with a Flourish

Blueprints of Mad King Ludwig is an upcoming game by Bezier Games. As the name probably suggests, the setting will be the same as its predecessor, with the only difference being that players will have to use their artistic skills. The game provides different colored pencils with which players will draw floor plans in an attempt to build the most extravagant blueprint and become the next Master Architect and please the King. Keeping track of the King’s favor is an important part of winning the game. Being a 1-5-player game, it can get pretty intense as players can gain new abilities such as adding hidden doors, removing doors, winning cards, getting extra turns, and expanding more which will reward you with extra points.

The designer of the game, Ted Alspach, is well-versed in the field of tile-laying games, as his name also stands behind the game Suburbia, in which you must build your own metropolis and also a co-designer of One Night Ultimate Werewolf.

Bezier Games has also announced its collaboration with Stonemaier Game, the company behind titles such as Wingspan and Scythe. Together, they plan to present Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig, which is an interesting mix of Between Two Cities and Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

Blueprints of Mad King Ludwig is already live on Kickstarter and the campaign will be active until March 7. A $40 pledge can award you with the core copy of the game with an estimated delivery in February 2024. A $70 pledge will bring you the deluxe edition, with the same estimated date of delivery.
