The extremely successful roguelike deck-building video game developed by American studio MegaCrit “Slay the Spire” will enter the tabletop world with “Slay the Spire: The Board Game”.
“Slay the Spire: The Board Game” will carry the spirit of the original PC title, and will put players in a cooperative deck-building adventure. Players will take on the roles of Slayers – one of four predetermined characters with special abilities and craft a unique deck. The overall aim is to synergize their cards with their chosen Slayer’s abilities for maximum effectiveness and synergy. Together, the Slayers will take on the Spire together, battling through creatures of various shapes and sizes, collect powerful relics and defeat powerful bosses.
The Kickstarter for the board game was launched on November 1, setting a backer goal of $50,000. This proved no problem, as the “Slay the Spire” fans were impatiently lying in wait to back the project, smashing through the backer goal with ease. “Slay the Spire: The Board Game” became fully funded in less than 6 minutes – truly an amazing start for the campaign. As it currently stands, the campaign has over 9,700 backers and has accumulated over $1.300.000 and those numbers are growing exponentially with every passing minute.
Daily Reveals Are on Their Way
The developers from Contention Games also shared their excitement in several update posts on the Kickstarter campaign, one of which stated that the daily reveals are on their way! This means more exciting news and content are bound to surface in the very near future. The first line of news came with the reveal of The Colorless Card Packs, which all players will be getting. Each one contains 20+ colorless cards, 20+ sleeves, and 6 Neow’s Blessings cards (the game’s equivalent of starting bonuses), which can be included in the game.
The game will cost a pretty penny, however, as a pledge of $100, dubbed the Slayer’s Pledge will get you a base copy of “Slay the Spire: The Board Game”, along with all applicable unlocked stretch goals and a Claw Pack filled with extra playing cards. This is the base pledge and there are currently no cheaper alternatives to obtain a copy of the game.
The next pledge, dubbed the Collector’s Pledge will cost $145 and includes a collector’s edition of the game with all the base contents included, along with character playmats with all the Slayers, metal coins, a bigger game box to store the playmats and all of the unlocked stretch goals.
The final pledge tier, dubbed Neow’s All-In will include all the contents of the Collector’s Pledge, plus the game’s beta art, a stitched-edge table playmat and a comfy carry bag. This will cost backers $210.
Overall, the best news from “Slay the Spire: The Board Game” is yet to come! We will definitely keep an eye on the campaign as things develop and share them with you with excitement. If all goes according to plan, the game is expected to launch in December 2023.
